Projects
There is incredible potential in the developing world to incorporate sustainable information, resources, and technologies with native culture. By utilizing already existing resources in different ways, these villages can begin to reverse the cycle of hunger and poverty. We offer tools of transformation to a sustainable future through education and global connection.
These are some examples of projects to intelligently use resources:
Rainwater Catchments
In Bolivia, NGO Jalsu Agua has been refining the process of hand pumps, ferrous cement cisterns and rainwater catchments. These offer solutions for full water systems from collection to storage, heating and efficient use. Mountain communities receive strong solar exposure. Placing solar hot water collectors on roofs improves cleanliness and hygiene drastically.
Bucket Irrigation Kits
Developed by 'Chapin Living Waters', these kits are the most affordable solution to efficient watering of crops for food, and enable cultivation of food in harsh conditions.
LED Light Systems
LED lights are redefining how we light our world. Using 1% of the energy of a conventional bulb and lasting over 100,000 hours, they are ideal for third world. Our approach is to use 5-10 W solar panels, speaker wire, a motorcycle battery purchased on location, and LED lights.
Composting
Teaching methods of building soil increases food production capabilities. It is scientifically shown that healthy soils lead to healthy forests and fields, which attract more consistent rain patterns over a region improving the ecosystem in a positive feedback loop.
Education
To ensure long-term success, it is important that the adults and especially the children are taught how to use and maintain these systems. We are building a new culture of sufficiency through teaching. It is has been scientifically proven that adults learn new things especially well when taught or shown by their children. This is key to creating a thriving planet.
